Through our Factory Ballast Upgrade the capacity of your boat's ballast system will drastically increase, creating a sizeable improvement in your wake. Our aftermarket ballast solutions increase the overall capacity of your boat's factory ballast system for improved performance while keeping the convenience of controlling all ballast with the switches at your dash. The ballast bags included in your Factory Ballast Upgrade are integrated into your boat's existing ballast system for automated filling/draining.
The WakeMAKERS Mastercraft PiggyBack Factory Ballast Upgrade integrates aftermarket ballast bags with your boat's factory center hard tank. In the factory configuration when the center hard tank is full, excess water is dumped overboard through the vent hose. Once the PiggyBack system is installed, excess water from the hard tank flows into the bow ballast bag and allows it to fill to capacity. Once the additional ballast bag is full, excess water will flow out of the vent hose on the bag and through the boat's factory thru-hull fittings. Draining is exactly the opposite. The factory ballast pump for draining removes water from the tank and gravity forces water out of the ballast bag and into the factory hard tank until both the ballast bag and tank are empty.
The updated system is still controlled using the switches on your dash and functions exactly like the stock configuration. The only difference is an increase in the overall ballast capacity for an improvement in your wake's size.
Bow ballast is often forgotten about but equally important as ballast in other zones of the boat for creating a satisfactory wake. A balanced distribution of ballast throughout all zones of the boat creates a cleaner shaped wake that makes for better takeoffs and landings wakeboarding. In wakesurfing, more bow weight typically helps to lengthen out the wake, creating a bigger "sweet spot" or "pocket" where the rider can surf without the rope.
Every WakeMAKERS Factory Ballast Upgrade is designed to be a user-friendly DIY install that can be completed in your garage over the course of an afternoon.
