It takes more than the factory ballast in your boat to achieve the best possible wake. The increased capacity as a result of the WakeMAKERS Factory Ballast Upgrade will create a sizeable improvement in your wake, making for a more enjoyable wakesurfing and wakeboarding experience.
Our aftermarket ballast solutions increase the overall capacity of your boat's factory ballast system for improved performance while keeping the convenience of controlling all ballast with the switches at your dash. The ballast bags included in your Factory Ballast Upgrade are integrated into your boat's existing ballast system for automated filling/draining.
Our BagBuster Ballast Upgrade increases the capacity of your ballast system by replacing the factory ballast bags in the rear lockers with bigger, better fitting WakeMAKERS FIT Series ballast bags. The additional weight helps to further displace the boat's hull in the water and create a more sizeable wake. Add over 800lbs of additional ballast on EACH side of your Makai if you select the 1,723lb bag option, or over 400 pounds of additional ballast with our 1,345lb bag option.
With both bags sizes you leave your factory storage tray in place, but you won't get quite the full rated capacity of the new bags. It's still a massive increase over the stock bags, but on days that you want the most weight possible (when you have a small crew and don't need the storage space), pull the trays and leave them in the truck.
Every WakeMAKERS Factory Ballast Upgrade is designed to be a user-friendly DIY install that can be completed in your garage over the course of an afternoon or less. The typical install time for a Moomba BagBuster is 5-30 minutes. Don't want to do a self-install and would rather take your boat to a professional? These upgrades can be completed by your local WakeMAKERS certified boat service center.
So I was a bit underwhelmed at the wave from factory on the Makai. After installing these bags its like a night and day difference. The installation was perfectly fitted and the bags are just a huge improvement if you're looking to do a lot of surfing! 100% would recommend this product if you have a Makai and your looking for more wave and more fun!
The upgrade was worth it, adding 700 lbs to the stern of the Makai allows the boat to reach the ideal 11 degrees pitch. Wave is massive, lead couldn't fit in those lockers and it was about a $1 per lb (half the price). Now we don't need a boatload of people, the wave is the same with only 3 or 4.
