We've tried them all, and found the Seachoice Anchor Fold-and-Hold Anchor is the best anchor for wakeboard and waterski boats, period.
At some point, nearly every boater wants to anchor their boat; whether just to hang out in the middle of the lake and relax, or to park the boat on the shore while you're camping. We looked long and hard to find a portable anchor solution that actually works, and once we had a chance to use the Seachoice Anchor Fold-and-Hold Box Anchor system on our own boats, we knew we had to offer it for our customers.
Our criteria for finding the perfect boat anchor was simple:
- Holding Power: Obviously these types of compact, easy to store anchors are designed for permanent moorage, but we wanted a solution that would actually hold a modern wakeboard/surf boat. We don’t want to be stressed about whether the boat is secure while we’re relaxing around the campfire at the end of the day.
- Easy to Store: Although basically the opposite of the holding power, we wanted an anchor that could be easily stored in the boat when not in use without taking up a lot of space, and without a bunch of hassle.
- Easy to Recover: Although not very frequent, if you’ve ever had an anchor get stuck where you don’t have room to maneuver the boat you know what a massive pain this can be.
- Long Lasting: We’ve been through our share of anchors that rust and stain the interior, have a weld break, or just otherwise fall apart. We wanted a premium solution that fits in with your dialed boat that is spotless. For that application, either galvanized or stainless steel is the best option. No PVC or vinyl coated options would work.
After testing various danforth or fluke anchors and the standard mushroom anchor most boat owners are familiar with, we continued to be disappointed by one, or all of the above criteria. Mushroom anchors only offered effective holding power on all bottom types if they were heavy enough, which immediately meant they missed on the Easy to Store criteria.
Fluke anchors could weigh less for easy retrieval, but their awkward shape and sharp edges were a huge liability for storage. Fluke anchors also have limited holding power on any bottom surface that is less than perfect.
When we finally found the Box Anchor, it was obvious after the first use that this was the solution we had been looking for. Holding power? Check. Easy to store? Big check. Easy Recovery? Check. Long lasting? Well that one too many more hours of testing, but after a few years of use, we can confirm that one as well.
Box Anchor Features
The unique folding design is easy to use and easier to store in the boat. By leveraging geometry instead of mass, the self-bedding design holds stronger the more it’s pulled on. All of that adds up to an anchor that is easy to set; just throw it in the water and apply a little force, you don't even have to worry about the angle or orientation.
Retrieving the box anchor is just as simple, just pull the boat in so that you're directly above the anchor and lift it up. It will pull free easily and you can retrieve and store it.
Speaking of storage, just pull the spring-loaded pin to collapse the box anchor and it will easily fit in your designated storage location.

Works as advertised
Having never owned a box anchor before, I didn’t really know what to expect. This anchor is easy to store, easy to fold/collapse, cleans off easily, and holds great. Paired it with 100’ of line for our lake. Will definitely recommend to my friends 👍🏼

Why didn’t I get this sooner?
Super nice, folds into a compact package to where it fits almost anywhere, our lakes where I’m at are a little tricky getting a regular, run of the mill anchor to set, and this thing just works everytime. Well worth the money.
